ICSI Treatment in Delhi & ICSI Treatment Cost in Delhi

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) and an even more advanced technique, Intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection (IMSI) is a boon to Assisted Reproductive Technique (ART). These techniques have provided solutions to many problems of infertility both in men and women.

What is ICSI Treatment?

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection or ICSI is a procedure of ART where the sperm retrieved is directly injected into the retrieved egg. ICSI can be performed as an independent procedure or can be coupled with the IVF procedure to allow the selection of viable sperm, egg and to enable precise fertilization. The suitable fertilized eggs are later transferred into the woman’s uterus.

The Procedure of ICSI Treatment in Delhi

The procedure of ICSI involves the first few stages of IVF i.e., ovary stimulation, egg retrieval and sperm retrieval after which the ICSI is performed.

The five simple steps of the process of injecting sperm into egg include:

  1. The mature egg is placed in a sterilized petri dish and held with a pipette.
  2. A sharp, hollow needle is then used to pick a single sperm.
  3. The needle is carefully inserted through the hard shell of the egg and into the inside of the egg.
  4. Slowly, the sperm is injected into the egg, and the needle is removed.
  5. The eggs are examined for the accomplishment of fertilization the next day.

The successful attainment of fertilization will ascertain the completion of the steps of ICSI. Once the embryos reach the 6-8 celled stage, they will be transferred carefully into the woman’s uterus. Then it is just a matter of 15 days to confirm pregnancy and successful implantation through pregnancy tests.

Major reasons to follow ICSI Treatment in Delhi

Sometimes, problems with fusion of eggs and sperm or even quality/quantity of the gametes can affect the quality of the embryo. The ICSI fertilization process can address many issues that can affect optimal fertilization. Some of the major reasons for ICSI treatment procedure are:

  • One of the prime advantages is that ICSI reproduction can avoid multiple pregnancies. Only a single healthy embryo can be selected and transferred.
  • ICSI is used in cases of certain reasons of male infertility including low sperm count, low motility of sperms, ejaculation problems, erectile dysfunction, etc. Sometimes, surgical sperm aspiration techniques are used prior to ICSI for the retrieval of sperm.
  • ICSI is also used in cases of retrograde ejaculation, if the sperms are retrieved from the urine sample.
  • For women, ICSI can improve the quality of their eggs. In cases where very less number of eggs are retrieved or no eggs fertilize effectively during an IVF cycle, ICSI can improve fertility by the selection of quality egg/sperms and fertilization by injecting the egg.
  • ICSI can include a genetic screening of embryos. Preimplantation Genetic Screening/Diagnosis (PGS/PGD) can be done for the embryos formed from ICSI procedure. This will allow the elimination of embryos with chromosomal abnormalities and other genetic defects.
  • Studies show that ICSI works like a miracle to treat unexplained infertility issues as well.
  • ICSI conception can eliminate most of the possibilities of a fertilization failure and improve the IVF success rates.
